Citydeals.com question for anyone who knows...

Just curious, I got the rod works 50% off for a gift this Christmas but when it came to shipping the least expensive was $2.95, I do a lot of shipping, this should easily be able to ship with a regular postage stamp and envelope, shouldn't it? I did get it because it's still a good deal with the half off, BUT...

I was trying to figure out the rewards, it seems like a rip off to me because you pay out more in shipping then for the rewards points you are given, it seems silly. Great business, they charge enough in shipping to cover a stamp AND the rewards point they are giving out. Am I missing something? I haven't used it before was poking around and a lot of the gift cards are being sold at the retail value, then give like 2.50 in rewards but then charge 2.95 shipping.... huh?
