4 Cheap Party Ideas For St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner (it’s March 17th) and we wanted to take a few minutes out of our day to give you 4 Cheap Party Ideas For St. Patrick’s Day. We know that most of you love to celebrate the holidays but sometimes we just don’t have the kind of money needed to have a good time. At least, sometimes we don’t think that we do. You see, you don’t always have to blow hundreds or even thousands of dollars to have a good time. In fact, you won’t even have to spend $100 on St. Patrick’s Day in 2014. Cool, huh?

Now, enough with the teasing. We’re going to give you those 4 reasons right now!

Green Food Coloring

This first cheap party idea is pretty self explanatory. Invite a few friends over, serve them their drinks, and use green food coloring in each one. We know that you may decorate or do whatever you do but there’s nothing like having a green drink on St. Patrick’s Day. It makes things way more authentic and it’s very neat to look at as well. It’s also very cheap!

Irish Music

Alright, so you’re having a few friends over and your party is planned to near perfection. What’s it missing? Probably some Irish music! It doesn’t have to be authentic Celtic music or anything but playing a few Dropkick Murphy’s songs for the guys definitely won’t hurt. You can get the music needed on iTunes, buy a couple CDs for $20-$30, or hook up your smart phone to a portable speaker (if you have one) and search “Irish music” on Pandora.

Bake For Ireland

Have kids? Don’t have a babysitter? If you answered yes to both of these questions then you probably don’t want to have alcohol involved in your St. Patrick’s Day party, right? Of course not! So, what do you do? We suggest trying to bake some Irish themed food. It could be something as simple as cookies with four leafed clovers on them or making a generous portion of green Jell-o. Be creative and be sure to stick to the good green stuff, ya know?

Find An Irish Pub

If you don’t want to do something at home but still don’t want to go out and spend a fortune, just about every moderate sized city has an Irish style pub that is open year round. Even if you’re unfortunate enough not to have one, a local establishment of some kind is sure to be hosting various festivities for St. Patrick’s Day so go and check them out!

Of course, if none of these ideas appeal to you or you’re simply just not worried about having an Irish style St. Patrick’s Day celebration, you could always check out your local St. Patrick’s Day parade if you have one. It’s family friendly, safe, and won’t cost you a dime. Best of all, if you have kids, they’ll probably go home with a ton of candy and a smile on their faces. If you ask us, it doesn’t get much better than free and happy now does it?
