Jar Lanterns – Easy to make & so pretty!

I volunteer with a church youth group. We made these awesome lanterns for Girls Camp for the first time a couple of years ago and now it’s a yearly tradition!
.
We had friends and family donate jars. We have found that we like them best without the embossing – mayo jars and spaghetti sauce jars work really well! We use a Cricut® to cut shapes out of contact paper. The youth are able to choose their own designs – but we found that having some already cut out is a good idea! Some kids chose to free-hand their ideas on the contact paper (they’re so creative!) and cut them out with scissors.
.
Once their shapes are cut out, they can position them however they want on their jar.
.
Then we sprayed the jars with glass frosting and crafted wire handles for them. We put tea lights in each of them and they look amazing. We prefer the tea lights that look like they are flickering. This is a photo of them hanging from our canopy!
