6 Easy Steps to Make Your Own Emergency Kit

With the scare of the Coronavirus, It has people wondering if they are ready to be quarantined or what if a natural disaster was to happen? Are you ready? If you haven’t already made your own emergency kit, now is the time to do it. With an emergency kit you will be better prepared to survive when a catastrophe happens. Here is an easy step-by-step guide to help you build your own emergency kit.

Step #1
Make a Plan. You can make a 24 hr or 48 or or 72 hour kit for your family. I would recommend making a 72 hour kit for your family. Grab an index card and make a list. List out how many people you have in your family and think about each person as you go through this list.

Step #2
Gather Bags. You will need to get a bag for each person in your family. Look around your home. Get old backpacks that you aren’t using or buy some new ones for each person in your family. Check out Walmart, they have good prices on backpacks.

Step #3
Get Water. You need about 1 gallon of water per person for the 72 hours. That would be (8) 16 oz water bottles to make up a gallon or you can get bigger bottles to make it more manageable.

Step #4
Gather your food. You will need to gather enough food for 3 days for each person in your family. The easiest thing to do is get food that you will actually eat. You will want to get items that has a long shelf life too. Some suggestions are: Canned soup, peanut butter, granola bars, canned meat, canned fruits, canned vegetables, freeze dried fruits or meats, fruit snacks, hard candy, specially packaged milk, honey, protein bars, vitamins. I always thought I had to get certain emergency foods, but that’s not the case. Just get long shelf life foods and change them out every 5 years or so. Remember you don’t need a gourmet meal when you are in survival mode, just enough food to keep you sustained and healthy.

Step #5
First Aid Kit. This can be a DIY first aid kit or a store bought one. It doesn’t need to be anything fancy. Get a container like a pencil box and add the following items to it: Band aids (variety of sizes), Antibacterial ointments, plastic gloves, gauze and tape, small scissors, Q-Tips or cotton balls, medicines (cold, pain, baby, allergy), thermometer, tweezers.

Step #6
Batteries & Other Essentials. You’ll want to put in the following that would be super helpful for emergencies. Flashlights, batteries, hammer, wrench, pet supplies (if applicable), manual can opener, whistle, blankets and a change of clothes for each person. I would recommend doing long sleeve and pants per person in their bags. That way if it’s winter you are prepared, if it’s warmer you can cut them down to size.

Those are the basics of what you would want to gather for your emergency kits. Now you can get more fancy or make it super simple. Either way you will be better off than not having anything at all.

How to Prepared for a No-Spend Week or Month!

I’ve thought a lot about trying a no spend month lately especially with it being the beginning of the year, we could use the savings for Christmas. Anyone else in this situation? Or maybe you want to save for a family vacation this summer? No matter what you have in mind for some extra money, a no spending month or even week is a great cleanse for everyone. So here are some tips on how to survive a no spend month!

Eat out of your pantry and freezer. Lots of times I’ll be standing at my fridge wondering what we’re going to eat for dinner or even lunch but if I were to take just two steps to the left I’d find a whole pantry of food as well as our freezer in the garage. Try eating from what you have on hand. Get creative and eat something simple but before you start your no spend month be sure you’re stocking up on your staples.

Use what you have. Not just in your pantry but your closet, bathroom and more. I know I have a container of makeup that’s under the sink. So when my other stuff runs out I don’t need to head to the store, I can find something new and different right at home. You might also have clothes in the back of your closet you haven’t worn in a while that would be perfect to pull out. Your no spend month is also a great time to get rid of the stuff you don’t use (especially your closet).

Get create and make stuff from scratch. Out of bread? Need more laundry soap? Get your baking pans out and make some fresh homemade bread. Or find a recipe online for laundry detergent. You never know, you might have everything you need right at home.

Find free entertainment. There’s always lots of free community events going on. Or take the bikes down and go for a ride. You could even invite some friends over for game night and bake some cookies. Don’t forget that the library usually has movies you can borrow for a movie night or get a new book to read.

Tell your friends and family about what you’re doing. Some of them might even want to get on board and try it too. Either way it’s good to have support when you’re doing different things that could be difficult at times.

Be prepared. Make sure you have a plan and you’re prepared for what’s to come! Think about medicine you take, meal plan, gas in the car, errands to run, toiletries, bills to pay and anything else you can’t live without. Make sure you’re also planning the right month. Look ahead and be sure you don’t have vacations planned, dinner out with friends or anything that would make it a bad time to do your no spend month. Don’t forget about birthdays, those can make for bad spending months!

Motivate yourself and find something you will do with the money you save or give yourself a treat! It’s tough in this day and age to not spend money. But if you go on a spending fast, you’ll feel better about your finances and realize you can do it!

Anyone already done a spending freeze before? How did things go and is there something you wish you would have known before?

Where to find the Best Deals on St. Patrick’s Day Decor

It’s almost March, my friends!  Can you even believe it? When March rolls around, that also means that it is time to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! Bring on all of the green!

What do you do when it comes to holiday decor? I love decorating for holidays, but I am a cheapskate and I do not like to spend a lot of money, so I’m all about saving where I can. If you are looking for where to find the best deals on St. Patrick’s Day decor, check out this list of where I find the best deals on St. Patrick’s Day decor.

Where to Find the Best Deals on St. Patrick’s Day Decor

These are my go-to places for finding the best deals on St. Patrick’s day decor:

Amazon – I mean, by now we all know that Amazon is a great place to find decor for just about any holiday, right? Not only do they have cute, low price decor pieces, but Prime Members get free 2 day shipping which is awesome!

Dollar store – I’m big on low cost stuff and I’m also big on saving space. I love dollar store items for holiday decor because I don’t feel like I have to store it for the entire year. Once the holiday passes, I often offer the items on my local Buy Nothing FB page, I recycle them, or I let my kids create fun projects with them.

Thrift Shops – Thrift shops are a great place to shop for St. Patrick’s Day decor. This kind of shopping is great because you are buying used, which means that you are saving the environment and saving money. Plus, thrift shops cycle through their merchandise bringing seasonal items out at the right time!

Buy Nothing Groups – Do you ever get stuff from your local Buy Nothing groups on Facebook?  They are an awesome shopping resource for holiday decor and other holiday supplies.

Lighting trends in 2020

Plentiful new designs of home lighting go in trend every year. Just like following trending fashion in clothing, following new designs of home lighting is also very important as the lighting designs play crucial role in shaping up the look and feel of any living space. www.mafeemushkil.com has always strived to offer a variety of styles in decorative lighting.

Industrial looks

After sticking to traditional, vintage and antique looks for many years, people are now inclined more towards transitional and modern interiors. Transitional and modern looks demand for furniture having minimalistic designs which are not only sleek but are also light weight. In this scenario the lighting accessories made on mechanical and industrial inspired cuts and designs are gaining more and more popularity. The elements of mechanical and industrial themes are being incorporated in lighting fixtures this year. The industrial styled Ceiling lights Dubai with polished finishes and are made up by uniquely interplaying wood and the metal. These lighting accessories give a very streamlined and modern look to the interiors.

Materials from the nature

Sustainability and usage of more natural objects is seen to be in trend for quite some time now. Considering the aesthetic elevation and health benefits provided by natural objects, they are being used frequently now. This is something that is trending this year even in home lighting and décor. Organic materials are not only good for the environment but they also provide the tactile warmth and serenity and shape up the interiors into calm and cozy places. Pendants, scones, lamps and chandeliers donning rattan and wicker shades are going to be highly in trend this year. The usage of environmentally ethical wood will be seen trending this year. Along with natural fiber and wood, stones and glass are also used in creating lighting accessories of new styles. The lighting accessories are either been made using original / faux stone and glass as the dominant material or these materials are also being used partially along with other materials for achieving dimension and style.

Geometry inspired shapes

As the geometric shapes have been an ever green favourite for ages because of their specialty of adding visual interest into lighting artifices, the trend is continued in the year 2020 as well. Spherical, orbital and round geometric shapes have been in frequent use lately however this year more hexagonal, square and diamond like shapes are seen to be getting highly popular.  These geometric designs go perfectly with most of the interiors carrying tiled floors or walls or they can be complemented with the geometric lay out of furniture as well.

Finishes

Black is seen trending in interior décor this year. Adding black lighting finish to interiors with black matte painted cupboards and furniture is highly in fashion. Top interior designers and lighting experts are recommending people to specially adopt this look for their kitchen by complementing the black cabinets and décor with the lighting giving gold, copper or chrome finish. Lighting accessories with subtle silver finish are also gaining popularity this year. The soft shine of silver antique finish goes excellent is being used in both classic and modern lighting shades, silhouettes and chandeliers. Brass is also back in fashion but this year more subtle, matte and less shiny looks are in fashion so go for brass lighting but as for the following trend, go for less sparky rather soft and subtly shining brass lighting finish.

Go big

2020 is going to be big in terms of interior designs as well. Broad and widened spaces along with, king size furnishing fixtures and huge decorative artifices are going to be extremely in-fashion this year. For making sure that the lighting accessories do not go unnoticed otherwise, bigger sizes are seen in high use this time. Use large sized pendant lighting either by arranging them with small ones or by fixing them in the counts of 3 or 5 by arranging their heights alternatively. So for this year, remember that bigger is better and add dramatic looks for your interiors. These large ceiling lights Dubai  can be adorned over dining tables, kitchen aisles etc. while using humungous chandeliers in the center of the ceiling of the huge living areas is also in hype.

These are going to be extremely popular lighting trends this year and www.mafeemushkil.com has plentiful lighting accessories which are designed and manufactured according to these trends. Mafeemushkil’s mission is to beautify Dubai through its extravagant lighting collection and you can find incalculable choices of the lighting accessories of all sorts and create an interior you’ve always dreamt of.

Leap Day Activities & Ideas to Make It Memorable!

I love any and every excuse to come up with crafts, activities and things to do with the kids to celebrate the holidays, including the little ones! Now I know leap year isn’t a holiday but it’s the perfect excuse to play, craft and make memories together! So I’ve put together a fun list of things you can do Saturday to celebrate!

  • Time Capsule – We’re excited because this Saturday we get to open our time capsule from last leap day! Inside you could print some pictures of the kids, trace their hands, put something you’ve created together inside and so much more! Then seal it up and mark the date for next year when you can open it together.
  • Play Leapfrog – this is a fun childhood game your kids would have so much fun playing. It’s the perfect day to teach them how!
  • Leap Day Obstacle Course – you could easily combine the game leapfrog with an obstacle course to make this fun. Ask the neighbor kids to play with you or make it a family night
  • Frog Treats – there’s tons of these on pinterest you could use as samples. Or make some green jello and add some gummy frogs to it with a little whipped cream as lily pads.
  • Origami Frogs – some simple paper folding and your kids are going to love it! Add some googly eyes and a tongue and you’re set. Here’s a great example how.
  • Fill Out An All About Me – this would be perfect to fill out and add to your time capsule! Or simply make it for your memory book and document the fun stages your kids are in.
  • Frog Crafts – Another great thing to look on pinterest for is some frog crafts! I’m sure you can find some fun ideas your kids will love.
  • Find a Pond – this could be fun if you have a pond nearby to checkout the frogs, the sounds they make and where they like to hide.

Hope this helps and you’re able to enjoy leap year with your family!

5 Ways You Can Save Money on Kids Clothes

If you have kids or even grand kids, then you know how pricey clothes can get. If you have multiple children then the price just gets higher and higher. Now that my kids are getting older I’ve learned some valuable lessons on clothing. Please note, we are all different in what we like for styles and brand, but no matter what you wear, there is always a way to get it for cheaper. Here are 5 ways to help you save money on kids clothes.

  1. Shop the sales and buy ahead of time. Stores have sales for a reason.  A lot of times they are trying to get rid of clothes to make room for the new styles and season. Buy sizes ahead of time so you’re not stuck buying full priced items when you need clothing now. I love grabbing clearance items at super cheap prices.
  2. Shop Consignment. This is a big way to save money. You can also shop at places like The Just Between Friend Consignment events. I go to our local ones every year and stock up on those items you don’t want to pay full price for. I’ve even seen high end name brand clothes at a fraction of the price. Find a consignment near you and save.
  3. Shop at garage/yard sales. I’ve heard so many people score some awesome clothes at garage sales. I totally did this for my babies and toddlers. Those clothes don’t wear out as fast and little kids could care less about brands. I remember getting onesies for the babes for only $0.25 or less. Such a steal!
  4. Use clothing from family and friends. I have a sweet neighbor that has girls. When I had my first girl, she gave me all of her girls clothing. It was SO nice. That saves so much money and waste.
  5. Shop Marketplace or your local classifieds. I know a lot of people who grab some awesome deals on Facebook Marketplace. I’ve actually grabbed some boys name brand snow pants for this years skiing. It could be a great place for teen shopping.

Blockchain and CBD Gummies: What You Need to Know

The FDA seems to have been largely unprepared for the consequences of the passage of the Farm Bill from 2018 and its resulting deregulation of CBD. The bill legalized the farming and processing of hemp and hemp products, meaning that CBD was taken off the list of controlled substances and is now a legal substance.

The CBD market immediately exploded on a massive level, and new products are coming out all the time. Thousands of brands have flooded the internet, consumers are purchasing the best CBD gummies faster than suppliers can make them, and the CBD market is set to be worth $22 billion or more within the next couple of years.

A Lack of Oversight for the CBD Gummies Market

While consumers rejoiced and companies cashed in, the FDA scrambled to figure out the best way to handle this new health and wellness craze. Soon after the Farm Bill passed, they released a statement indicating that the regulation of CBD was getting passed over to the Food, Drug, and Cosmetics department. The FD&C then released its own statement indicating that CBD was not approved as a food additive, supplement, or curative treatment, leaving CBD to be regulated as a cosmetic (which are famously not particularly regulated).

The government agency responsible for consumer safety related to products we ingest and slather onto our skin later clarified that their main focus of enforcement with CBD products would be toward companies that market their products to minors, make false medical claims, and use unsafe manufacturing practices (though this part is a bit ambiguous).

The USDA does closely monitor the farming and harvesting of the hemp used in CBD, but that is only for hemp grown in the United States. Companies that use hemp grown outside the US, therefore, are not subject to very much oversight at all. The source country of the hemp imposes its own rules, which can be far more lax than the USDA, and the CBD gummies themselves are regulated about as much as a tube of lipstick or bottle of shampoo.

Dangerous Results

Since the federal government seems to have washed its hands of any responsibility for ingestible CBD products, misrepresented products are rampant. Of course there are plenty of reputable CBD gummies brands on the market, but they are nearly indistinguishable from the bogus brands.

The hemp used to make the CBD in these products may have been grown in polluted soil, irrigated with contaminated water, and sprayed with dangerous pesticides and fertilizers not intended for use on plants meant for human consumption. Consumers who use these products run the risk of exposure to toxic chemicals and heavy metals.

The CBD itself may not have been tested by a third-party lab, or the results may have been falsified. One study found that up to 70 percent of the packaging for CBD gummies had false labeling. When companies do not invest in third-party testing for every batch of CBD gummies, they do not actually know the amount of CBD, THC, or heavy metals that are present in their products.

If the federal government will not regulate CBD gummies, oils, and other ingestible products, and disreputable companies continue to cut corners, taking advantage of people looking to improve their wellbeing, then how are consumers supposed to know what is safe and what is not? Some discouraged consumers have turned from CBD because they are concerned for their safety. Others do their best to research a product and hope for the best. But what if there was a better way?

Blockchain is the Solution

Most people only associate blockchain with cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. While decentralized currency represents a portion of what blockchain can support, there are so many other functionalities for the emerging technology.

With blockchain, a package of data and every transaction related to that data gets stored in a “block.” Any time a new transaction happens (the data is edited), a new block forms on the chain, and it is timestamped and connected to every previous block of data related to the original block. This means that no matter which transactions take place or how the data is edited, every historical version is saved and timestamped. Nothing can be altered or deleted.

The security of blockchain is robust because all that data is not saved in one centralized location, but rather across a peer-to-peer network of servers. Any time new data is entered or anything is edited, access must be authenticated and verified across every single node on the network. This makes it virtually impossible to tamper with anything on the blockchain.

Blockchain to Regulate CBD

At this point, you may be wondering how in the world blockchain would be useful in solving the CBD regulation problem. Here is what some blockchain companies Farms are already doing to make CBD gummies like these from Verma Farms safer for everyone:

Data tracking starts with the seeds. A block with seed data for a crop, including strain and country of origin is added to the chain. When the seeds are planted, the GPS coordinates of the plot are noted, and AI technology tracks everything about the growing process. Growing conditions including weather and rainfall, and anything the plants are sprayed with, get recorded.

Everything about the entire process from seed to sale, including third-party lab results, is tracked in this manner. Consumers simply scan the QR code on their package and they will have access to the entire cycle of their products. When CBD gummies are created with this level of transparency, people can be confident that what they are getting is safe, and that the labeling is accurate.

With the federal government turning a blind eye to the fraud that is happening in the CBD industry, blockchain is a technology that helps reputable brands self-regulate, keeping consumers safe and healthy while using the products they love.

Overpriced Grocery Items You Should Avoid Buying!

We can agree that making your own meals at home can really save you money vs. going out to eat. But did you ever notices there are some items overpriced? Here are some overpriced grocery items you should avoid buying when shopping.

  • Pre-Cut Produce – I’ll be the first to admit, I’ve bought pre-cut produce before. It’s usually when I’m in a pinch and head to a party or need to try and eat healthier but I’m to lazy to cut my own. But you pay for this luxury, it sometimes it can be pretty steep.
  • Hard Boiled Eggs – it’s so easy to boil your own eggs, don’t buy them already boiled. It takes little time and little effort to boil them yourself. And if you have an instant pot, you can get the perfect boiled eggs in no time.
  • Out of Season Produce – We have those fruits we just love and want to eat all the time but that doesn’t mean you should. Buying your produce when it’s not in season will cost you. Make sure you know what’s in season when and take advantage of the price.
  • Whipped Butter – Here’s another one of these things you can do easily at home. When you buy it from the store, you’re paying the same price but for less butter. To do this yourself simple take 2 sticks of softened butter, add 1/4 cup milk and beat until light and fluffy. That’s it!
  • Spice Blends – Maybe you’re not a chef but in today’s world, that’s ok. You can get great flavor combining your own spices. Simple look up spice blends online and add them to your main dish.
  • Soft Drinks at Checkout – I know, you’re standing in line waiting for your turn and the cold drinks are calling your name. DON’T buy them! They’re usually listed for $1.99 per bottle. Instead, head to the soda isle and snag a 6 pack for only $2.50 (and sometimes cheaper if you watch for deals) That makes each bottle $.42 a savings of $9.44 per 6 pack! That’s some good savings right there.
  • Meat Patties/Kabobs/Chicken – Are you noticing a trend? You pay for conveniences. Just like the pre-cut product and hard boiled eggs, you pay to have someone else do the work for you. That goes for your meat as well. Buying patties already to grill or kabobs put together is a TON more money than doing it yourself. And these are easy. I’ll even make up patties or kabobs ahead of time and freeze any extras.

4 Things You Should Buy in February

Okay, I know we are a couple of weeks into February already, but I figured it’s better late than never to talk about things you should buy in February. The fact is that sometimes things are just cheaper during a specific month or a certain time of year.

If you are in need of any of the things on this list, you really should head out to shop for them ASAP or risk paying more for them later on.

4 Things You Should Buy in February

Chocolate

I don’t know about you, but I love, love, love that Valentine’s Day clearance! With chocolate being 50%-75% off, who cares if it is all in the shape of a heart! Heart shaped candy tastes the same as non-heart candy, am I right?

When I find chocolate deals like this I like to stock up for gifts, for Easter Baskets, and well, just because I love chocolate. Take it home and toss it in the freezer. It won’t be right there to tempt you all the time, but it will be there whenever you have a craving saving you money in the long run.

Televisions

Now is the time to buy TVs, my friends!  That’s right. It’s time for the new model years to come out which means major discounts on last year’s TV models. I literally bought a BRAND NEW TV the other day for $21, yes $21!  It was a small, 20” TV, but it was brand new and $21!

I can’t believe how cheap you can buy televisions these days. What is the cheapest TV deal you have ever found.

Winter Clothing

Yeah, I know that the weather is getting ready to warm up, but guess what? You can get lots of winter clothing for dirt cheap right now! I was walking through Walmart earlier today and saw fluffy winter coats for $5!  If you need these items grab them now! Alternatively, buy next year’s winter clothes for your kiddos and save big over waiting.

Video Games

Many retailers are looking to make up for bummer video game sales from the holidays and you will find steep discounts on games!  If you are a gamer or have one in the house, this is an excellent purchase this month!

5 Yummy Soups You Must Try this Winter

Are you done with winter yet? I sure am! I’m trying really hard to enjoy the crisp air and snowy mountains. However, when February comes around, I tend to get antsy for spring. The one thing I do love during winter is soup…and lots of it! I make a soup nearly every week during the winter season. I’ve found quite a few that I like, but I’ll narrow it down to 5 to share with you.

  1. Cheesy Chicken Enchilada Soup by House of Yumm  (my kids love this one!)
  2. Panera Bread Copycat of Broccoli Cheese Soup by The Recipe Critic
  3. Taco Soup by Mel’s Kitchen Cafe (if you don’t follow her, you totally should)
  4. Chicken Wild Rice Soup by Little Spice Jar
  5. Loaded Baked Potato Soup by Deliciously Cooking

5 (Almost) Free Things You Can do this Weekend

What are you doing this weekend? If just sitting around being broke sounds like all you can afford, not to worry!  I’ve got some ideas of ways to get you out of the house without spending a fortune! 🙂

If you are ready to do something different this weekend, do it!  Don’t let your fear of being broke keep you on the couch. Here are 5 almost free things you can do this weekend.

5 Free Things You Can do this Weekend

Go for a Hike

I love hiking. Hiking is my favorite (anyone else picturing that Will Ferrell meme right now?). Seriously though, hiking is an amazing way to spend your time and it won’t cost you anything!  Okay, maybe it’ll cost you a couple of bucks in gas depending on how far away your favorite trail is. Additionally, some trails located in state or federal parks occasionally have a nominal fee, so come prepared. Either way, hiking is a very low cost activity that is good for you!

Not only are you getting exercise, but you will also be exploring the nature that is around you! You might be surprised to learn about all of the beautiful hiking trails that you have right in your backyard.

Movie Night

Okay, this one doesn’t exactly get you off of the couch, but when it make it special it is completely different. Pop some popcorn, pick a movie for the entire family to watch together and get excited about movie night again.

Play Video Games with the Kids

Do you ever play video games with your kids?  I never did until about a year ago and I decided to have a gaming day (more like 2 hours..but it counts as a day, right?).  My son lit up with smiles and excitement that his parents were willing to play games with him. You know what else happened?  His friends told us how cool it was that we played games with him and how they wish their parents would do that too. It was WELL WORTH IT!

Have a Coffee Date

No need to sit down and pay $50-$100 to go out to eat.  Why not head on out for a coffee date with your special someone or even the entire family (kids can get cocoa)?  This will cost you only a couple of bucks (okay, I just drink plain coffee, so my coffee dates are actually VERY CHEAP), and it provides you with a great time to visit and bond.

Check Groupon

Don’t discount Groupon. One weekend a while back my family and I bought 5 tickets for an Elk Farm Tour for $2 each on Groupon (we used a promo code).  Guess what? It was a blast. Seriously. Who knew that elk could be so much fun? It was among the best $10 we ever spent. My kids still talk about it to this day.

5 Budget Friendly Things That You Can Do this Valentine’s Day

Do you have plans this Valentine’s Day?  In case you didn’t know, Valentine’s Day falls this coming Friday.  I don’t know about you, but I don’t like spending a lot of money on Valentine’s Day, additionally, I’m not a big fan long waits and busy crowds when I go out to dinner, so I have no plan of going out on Friday.

I do want to celebrate my love though so I do have plans. If you are looking for something to do, you too can choose between these 5 budget friendly things that you can do this Valentine’s Day.

5 Budget Friendly Things That You Can Do this Valentine’s Day

Dollar Store Cards

I HATE spending a lot of money on greeting cards. Hate it. That’s why I love the dollar store. I always find a great selection to choose from and most of the stuff that I have to say to my husband I write in there myself. They are perfect.

Dinner at Home

I love cooking with my husband. Cooking dinner to enjoy together is a fun way to spend time together and it is much less expensive than dinner out.

An Evening Walk Together

One of the most romantic things that you can do is hold hands and go for a walk together with your special someone. The exercise is good for you, and the time spent together is wonderful for bonding.

Movie Night with the Kids

No need to leave the kids out of the holiday celebration!  Turn on Netflix and see what looks like fun for the family to watch.

Wait until Sunday

Seriously. By the time Sunday rolls around, Valentine’s treats and gifts will be significantly clearanced down. Why not wait until then to celebrate the day together?  You will save time, the crowds will be thinner and hey…who doesn’t like half-priced chocolate?

What is your favorite budget-friendly activity for Valentine’s Day? What are you planning?

My favorite things on Groupon right now

I have spent a little bit of time cruising around Groupon today to see if I can find some awesome things for my family and I to do in the upcoming weeks and I have spotted some seriously fun stuff!

Here are some of my favorite things on Groupon right now for those of you wanting to get out and do something too.

My favorite things on Groupon right now

Concert tickets – I love the concert ticket deals that you can find on Groupon. Groupon in my area currently has deals on Nickelback, Disturbed, Steely Dan, Sammy Hagar, Foreigner and more!

Massages – Oh my goodness I love a good massage! How about you?  You know what else I love? SAVING MONEY!!! That’s why I love to score a good massage deal on Groupon and these are always on!

Haircuts – I have seen some good deals on haircut, color and style services on Groupon and this is an area that I love to save money!  I always make sure to check the reviews for the shop outside of Groupon so I know I am going to a good place.

Restaurant deals – I love going out to eat with my family, but I hate the expense of it. Seriously. For the 5 of us to go out to lunch yesterday (first time in months), it cost us $69!! That’s crazy! That’s why I typically only go out to dinner when we have a good coupon or Groupon deal to do it with.

Bowling – It has been FOREVER since I have gone bowling and now that my kids are older I think I want to take them again! With two teens and a toddler, my teens can help the little one and we can all just have fun playing and with the deals I am seeing on Groupon, it will literally cost us $30 for several hours of family bonding fun!
