Do you absolutely love celebrating birthdays? Well, so do we! In fact, we love celebrating birthdays so much that we decided to throw up a post on how you can celebrate birthdays on a budget. More specifically, we’re going to present you with a few affordable birthday present ideas because let’s face it, there are a lot of birthdays to pay for during the year and sometimes we run a little low on money. If you’re interested in this and want to know more, go ahead and scroll down. Some cool and affordable birthday present ideas await.
Make Something
The first affordable birthday present idea that we have for you is to make something. It could be a card, a lamp shade, or whatever you want it to be. It may cost you a few dollars for the supplies that you need but the birthday boy (or girl) is sure to love how much effort and time you put into their gift. After all, it’s the thought that counts and not the money.
Buy Something Used
The title says it all but we’re going to give you a specific example. Let’s say that the person in question is a college student that is living on their own. Why not buy them a used TV? How about a used couch? Play around with a few ideas and see what you come up with. If you know there is something that they need, they certainly won’t complain about whether or not the item was bought brand new. Just avoid buying stuff like used pillows.
Gift Card
The third idea that we have for you is a pretty common one. How about a gift card? You don’t have to spend $100 or even $50 on a gift card. You can swing by Subway and pick up a $10 gift card which anyone is sure to appreciate. After all, that’ll buy 2 foot long subs or 4 of the 6 inch subs. It doesn’t have to be Subway either as that was just a mere example.
Phone Call
Finally, the last tip we have for you is this. If you don’t have money for a gift and don’t feel like you can come up with the next best thing, give that person a call on their birthday. As mentioned above, it’s the thought that counts and we’re pretty sure they’ll appreciate the fact that you even remembered their birthday to begin with. So, pick up your phone and give them a call. If you’re feeling extra generous, you could sing to them.
And that’s how you celebrate someone’s birthday on a budget! Looks like we were right after all, huh? You can most definitely give someone a birthday gift without spending a ton of money. Now, do you want to get ready for next year? If so, go check out some of our money saving tips and ensure that next year you can buy them one sweet b-day gift!
Easter is one of our favorite holidays and if you have kids, it’s probably one of their favorite holidays as well. This is exactly why we decided to share a few ideas with you on how to spruce up this year’s Easter baskets without spending a ton of money. This will come in very handy for those of you that have more than one child or those of you that are simply on a budget. So, if you’re ready to check out these Easter basket ideas, scroll down!
Use Paper
If you’re making Easter baskets on your own versus buying them in the store, try using paper instead of the green, plastic grass that you buy to stuff down in the baskets. You probably already have some paper laying around the house so why not put it to good use? Shred a few sheets of paper up, color them green, and then put them in the Easter basket.
Make The Basket
If you’re skilled in the trade of arts and crafts, make the basket yourself. Easter baskets tend to cost $15 and up. Making your own basket would save you a ton of money and there are a lot of step by step guides on the Internet that will teach you how to do this. The worst that could happen is it doesn’t come out how you want and you have to buy one.
Buy Candy In Bulk
The next tip we have for you on this list of Easter basket ideas is to buy your candy in bulk. Most stores will have giant bags of candy for sale around Easter time and you’ll be able to fill multiple baskets for a lot cheaper than you would if you had to buy the candy piece by piece. You can even find gift packs that have fulled sized bars in them which is great!
Hide Real Eggs
While it may seem crazy, the plastic eggs that you hide for Easter tend to cost more than real eggs. Do things a little differently this year and paint real eggs, hide them, and reward whoever finds them on a “per egg basis.” For example, for each egg your child brings you, give them a quarter or a piece of candy. We know this has nothing to do with baskets but we just had to share this tip with you as it’ll make Easter a blast when the time comes.
And that’s all that you need to do! If you’re a fan of stuffing actual gifts in your Easter baskets, there isn’t a whole lot you can do to save money besides shopping around. Either way, if you take the tips that we’ve gave you here and apply them, you’re sure to save a ton of money on Easter this year. We genuinely hope you liked our Easter basket ideas and hope you have the best Easter ever. Now, what are you waiting for? Let’s have some fun!

We all have something that we’re extremely passionate about (or at least we hope that you do). If you don’t for some reason, it’s time to find it! For those of you that already do, we have a pretty cool post for you today. You see, we think that it’s about time you start making a little bit of money off of your hobbies. You either already work or you take care of the home so why not make some cash off of your extracurricular activities? There’s really no reason not to if you ask us. So with that being said, scroll down and see how.
eBay
This obviously won’t apply to everyone but if you have a hobby that involves you creating a physical product, why not sell it on eBay? Unless you like to keep what you make, you can make a decent bit of extra money selling your hobby to others on eBay. It could be just about anything from paintings to baskets and even clothing that you’ve made. We’ve even seen someone make lamp shades out of can tabs (like you find on sodas) and sell them.
Flea Markets
Another great place to make money off of your hobby is at flea markets. While you may think that you can only sell products like electronics and clothing at flea markets, there’s much more to it than that. If you’re passion is cooking, why not put together a table or small booth for the flea market on the weekends? You’ll get valuable feedback on your cooking skills and recipes as well as meet new people. It’s a win-win situation really.
Trade Shows
If you’re into making crafts and things of that nature, you may want to consider visiting some local trade shows. Almost every small town has one and they usually have names like The Apple Festival, The Maple Festival, or something along those lines. We’ve seen people selling beef jerky (some of the best we’ve ever had), handmade walking sticks, and more. These are usually only once a year which makes them perfect for those of you that don’t want to do the whole “flea market on the weekends” or “selling on eBay daily” things.
Brick And Mortar
Finally, the last option that we’ve came up for you is the least practical for most of us. What is it you ask? Well, you have the option of opening a physical business and going that route. Most of us won’t do this because we either don’t have the resources (it costs money) or the time. If you are exempt to these things and like the idea of owning your own business, we hope that you can achieve this goal. You can make a ton of money!
But these are just some of the ways that you can turn your hobbies into some extra cash or even a full time income. Regardless of how you go about profiting from your hobby, we hope that it’s a success but we want you to keep one thing in mind. Even if you don’t make a lot of money with one of these methods, you’re still doing what you love to do. It doesn’t get much better than that (even if it means making a boat load of cash). Now, what are you waiting for? Let’s get out there, pinch some pennies, and have some fun!
Have you ever wanted to learn how to play guitar but didn’t quite know where to start? Wonder no longer as we’ve put together a list of the best beginner guitars on a budget. What that basically means is that we’ll be giving you our opinion of the best bang for your buck when it comes to buying guitars. We won’t be giving you any off-brand guitars that you’ve never heard of but we will tell you which big companies have affordable lines of guitar. Ready to get started? Go ahead and scroll down so you check out this cool list!
Schecter
The first guitar on our list is one that we have actual experience with. In the world of music, $400 isn’t a lot of money and that’s about what you’d spend on a Schecter guitar that is built well enough to last you a lifetime. The particular model that we’ve had some experience with is the Schecter Damien Flying V with Floyd Rose (you know, the whammy bar). If you want a solid guitar that doesn’t cost a fortune, Schecter may be the way to go.
Fender
Next on our list is the classic guitar that is Fender. They make telecasters, stratocasters, and more. Regardless of what kind of Fender you get, you’ll have a quality guitar to play on. Best of all, you can get a good Fender for as little as $200 in some stores which is a steal if you ask us. However, we’ve noticed that Fender guitars are limited on what styles of music they can handle but that’s nothing a new set of pickups and a pedal can’t change.
Dean
While most people know of Dean guitars because of Dimebag Darrell (yeah, the guy from Pantera), they are pretty popular in the guitar community. They also make some very nice and affordable acoustic guitars that should only run you anywhere from $300 to $400 in most cases. While they aren’t for everyone, we do recommend giving Dean guitars a fair try.
Ovation
Finally, the last guitar to make our list is Ovation. We like the Ovation Celebrity acoustic guitars as, to us, they sound like a Taylor or Martin. In other words, these guitars sound like they cost $2,000+ but they only cost around $500 at the very most. We’ve seen them for as cheap as $300 or so but expect to spend around $400-$450 on these guitars. One last note on Ovation guitars though. They come in some very amazing and eye catching color schemes!
So, that wraps up our list on the best affordable guitar brands for beginners. Even if you aren’t a beginner, this list will serve you well. We definitely don’t think that you’ll run into any problems with any of these brands but we do recommend checking out each brand if you have the time. Then, you can make an educated decision as to which guitar is best for you. Now, what are you waiting for? Let’s get out there and get a new, affordable guitar!

Trying something new can be a pretty scary thing and sports are definitely no exception. They’re challenging, they’re physically demanding, and you’ll have a lot of pressure on you from the rest of your team. After all, everyone wants to win and no one wants to lose but that isn’t what is important here. What often stops people from trying new sports is the amount of money involved to get going. Well, we have 4 Cheap Sports To Try that we think you are going to like. Not only are they cheap to get started with but they’re fun too! Now, are you ready to get started with the list? Good, because we are ready to start too!
Basketball
The first sport to make our list is basketball. Why? Because literally all you need is a basketball which will cost you $30 at the very most. That’s also being very generous as you can get a cheaper basketball for around $4 or $5 but we went the Spaulding route as it is our favorite brand of basketball next to Nike. Now, do you want to give basketball a try?
Baseball
Baseball is a little more expensive to start than basketball as not only do you need a ball but you also need a bat (and probably some protective gear if you want to play it smart). The only reason that we put basketball over baseball other than random coincidence is because you kind of need two people to practice baseball but you don’t for basketball.
Tennis
Tennis is the third cheap sport on our list and while it can get pretty pricey over time, it’s pretty cheap to start. For under $30, you can get a beginner’s racket and a tube of balls. Don’t have someone to practice with? That’s fine! Find a flat wall such as your garage door or the side of your house to practice on. Just be sure not to break any of your windows.
Boxing
Finally, the last sport that we have for you on this list is boxing. It may be a little tough for you to find a boxing gym in your area depending on where you live but the only money you will really have to spend on boxing is on your gym membership. The gym should have just about everything that you need. The only thing you’ll want to buy is a good pair of shoes, shorts, and a mouthpiece. If you’re a male, you may want to consider buying a cup as well.
Now, what are you going to do? Are you going to keep procrastinating and wishing that you could try a new sport for the first time or will you get out there and do it? It won’t cost you a lot of money, you’ll get some quality exercise, and most of all, you’ll have a blast. As we mentioned above, we know it can be scary to start something new but in the very end, it’ll all be worth it. Now, let’s get up, get active, save some money, and have a blast!
Who loves going to the movies? We know that we do! Hopefully, you do as well because we put together a little list of some pretty cool ideas as to how you can save money when you go out to watch a movie. We definitely think that all of you are going to benefit from this and we hope to run into you one day while you’re in the middle of practicing some of what we teach. Now, are you ready to learn how to save money at the movies? Good!
Eat Beforehand
One of the most common tips that we give people when it comes to saving money at the movies is to eat before they go to the movie. This will keep you tempted from buying things like popcorn, candy, and drinks. Not that any of those are bad but we all know how much movie theater popcorn costs (and how good it is). Sometimes, we just have to beat temptation though and suck it up. If you want to save money, eat before you get there.
Buy From Fandango
We actually happen to be big fans of Fandango and the fact that you can buy movie theater tickets in advance at practically any theater out there. You can even get them for cheaper when you buy more than one and just for the fact that you bought them in advance. On top of all of this, they run some pretty cool promotions from time to time that’ll save you cash.
Sneak In Snacks
We don’t mean to sound like little kids on this one but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. It won’t hurt anyone to take a handful of nuts or a pack of crackers into the movies. You’ll please your stomach, you’ll save a little money, and you won’t be like some of those people that sneak in cans of soda and you can hear them clearly open it.
Watch What You Love
Finally, the last tip that we have for you is for you to simply focus on watching the type of movies that you enjoy. This is a pretty practical tip but it works when it comes to saving money at the movies and here’s why. If you filter out all the “what if” movies and just stick to your genre of choice, you’ll watch far less movies and in the long run, you’ll save!
So, these are our tips for how to save money at the movies. We hope that you found these tips both practical and helpful. If not, be sure to let us know! However, if you did like this list and any of these tips work for you, feel free to share this page with your friends, family, and anyone else that enjoys going to the movies. We’re sure that they’ll be happy to save a little money while doing something almost everyone loves to do. What is it?
