Cheap But Effective Cold Remedies

cold

The common cold isn’t deadly (usually) and it’s something that we all experience from time to time. It also seems like something that you have to either wait out or go spend money on cough medicines to get rid of. Well, that’s not the case. We have a few tips that will help you rid yourself of the common cold quicker than normal. Best of all, none of these methods will cost you a ton of money so there will be no trips to CVS or Walgreens in your near future. Now, are you ready to get started? Good! Because we are ready as well.

Hot Tea

The first cheap common cold remedy on our list is hot tea. It really doesn’t matter what kind of hot tea you get as long as it is genuine hot tea. No, sweet tea doesn’t count. Try a box of Earl Grey or anything with pomegranate in it. Also, make sure you steep it for at least 4 or 5 minutes to get all of that tea in there. Then, you should be ready to kick butt.

Exercise

This isn’t a proven fact but numerous research shows that exercise is great for most any type of illness (consult with your doctor for anything beyond a cold). A brisk walk or 20 minutes in the gym may do you very well when it comes to getting rid of the common cold. Again, we can’t stress this enough, check with your doctor if it is anything beyond a cold.

Fruit

Next on our list of home cold remedies is fruit. In particular, we recommend eating fruits like pineapple, mango, watermelon, or raspberries. We’ve had the best experience with these fruits when it comes to ridding ourselves of colds although some people prefer to eat fruits like bananas. If you can’t get your hands on fresh fruit, try taking a multi-vitamin.

Steam

Finally, the last tip on our list is one that you may have think you misread but trust us. You didn’t. We recommend breathing in steam whether its from a pot of boiling water on the stove or from a hot, steamy shower (no pun intended). This will help clear up your cold and give you the ability to smell again. After all, most colds come with a stuffed or runny nose. Steam will help you deal with that so by all means, we recommend using steam for a cold.

And that concludes our list. These are just some of the few home cold remedies out there and we’re sure that you’ll find more if you do a quick search. These are just the ones that have worked the best for us in the past so they’ll be the methods that we continue to pass on and recommend to others. Now, what are you still sitting there for? Let’s get out there, save a little bit of money, and rid you of that pesky cold. After all, it’s what you deserve!
