Father’s Day

Father’s Day is right around the corner, are you ready? For many of us Father’s Day is a very special day where we can honor our fathers, grandfathers, brothers, sons, friends and anyone else who has loved us and helped us grow. There are ads everywhere giving us great ideas of things we can give those we love for Father’s Day. If you are like me, because we love all of these people so much, it would be easy to spend hundreds of dollars on each and every one of them. Retailers want us to do just that and they are trying to win our purchasing dollars with those ads. But what if we don’t have hundreds of dollars to spend this Father’s Day?

There are lots of great ideas for Father’s Day gifts that don’t cost much at all – some are even free! Most of the dads and other loved ones in our lives don’t need expensive gifts. In fact, most of these men would rather have something meaningful. There are lots of great Father’s Day gifts that are free or cheap plus meaningful. Here are a few great ideas for free or cheap Father’s Day gifts.

Give Dad a coupon
Does dad have a favorite activity? Is there a chore or job you can do for dad? Create a coupon or gift certificate for it! This can be a great free Father’s Day gift idea – all you are giving is your time. Make the coupon or gift certificate personal by including something special about the activity and why you chose to give it to dad this year.

Give Dad a poem
Let you dad know how much you love him by writing him a poem. Put your feelings on paper and dad can read them whenever he wants. If you don’t want to write your own poem you can find one online. It can be simple or complex. It can be handwritten or typed. You can illustrate it or leave it plain. You can pick up a nice frame at the dollar store and frame the poem for him. All of these different ways of giving dad a poem for Father’s Day are sure to make him happy.

Frame a photo
I love this idea! Surprise dad with a framed photo – capture a special memory. Find a favorite photo of a special event or memory with your dad. Print the photo yourself or get it printed at a local store. You can get a frame without spending much money at all – there are usually quite a few at your local dollar store. Frame the photo and write a note about how much that memory means to you. This will be a Father’s Day gift that dad will treasure forever.

Make a book
This is another Father’s Day gift idea that I just love. Make dad a book that tells him all of the reasons why you love him. Make your own book or use a small photo album from your local dollar store. You can put one reason that you love your dad on each page or use a couple of pages for each reason. Decorate the pages, include a few pictures too. Dad will have a constant reminder of all of the reasons that you think he is special. This is another Father’s Day gift that dad will treasure forever.
