Time to bring back this thread. I need yummy, but frugal meals.

Tonight was from meal planning site

Lime And Cilantro Crock Pot Chicken

1 (2 to 3 pound) whole chicken
Jennie-O Whole Turkey Fresh, USDA Grade A While Supplies La... (more)
1 (teaspoon) salt
1/2 (teaspoon) freshly ground black pepper
1/2 (large) lime
1/2 (cup) fresh cilantro sprigs
2 (clove) garlic, peeled

Wash and dry the chicken thoroughly. Reserve the giblets and neck for another use or discard. Trim off excess fat. Season the chicken inside and out with salt and pepper.
Place chicken in slow cooker, breast side up. Squeeze the juice of the lime over the chicken and then place the squeezed lime rind, cilantro sprigs, and garlic into the cavity of the chicken. Cover and cook on low setting until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh registers 165F, about 6 to 7 hours.
Transfer the chicken to a platter. Pour the liquid from the cooker into a sepadrate container and skim off the fat. Serve as sauce with cooked chicken.

Serve over penne pasta, sprinkle with parmesan cheese.

Cheesy Chicken and Rice Slow Cooker

4-6 chicken breasts (depends on family size)
1 can cream of chicken
1 onion diced

Place chicken in slow cooker top with onions and soup. Cook on low 4-5 hours or high 7-8 hours.

After it is done cooking add one box Zatarans yellow rice (cooked on stove), and 1.5 cups shredded cheese. (You can also add a can of corn but I never do)

Stir and serve. My kids love this and its really easy. Much better than the oven version of chicken and rice
