Do you have a ton of user manuals and instruction booklets laying around like I do? I have them organized in a file, but they seem to quickly pile up. I am loving this digital age we are in, so I thought I could free up some space with all these books with a virtual filing cabinet.

Have you heard of ManualsOnline? It is a database of over 300,000 manuals from different companies for everything you buy….from kitchen appliances to tech gadgets to bicycles. You can look up your manual online, add it to your ‘room’ in your account, and voila! You can throw away the hard copy. And best of all, it is FREE!

I love how organized it is, and it is easy to navigate. You can also download the manual to your computer hard drive as well if you don’t want to depend on their website. But either way you have a copy of the manual digitally, freeing up space in your filing cabinet! Awesome.

Once you find your correct manual, you can also click right to the manufacturer website from there. You can locate hard-to-find manuals and store your manuals in your virtual filing cabinet. Try it…I LOVE IT. I have emptied out an entire half of my desk drawer!

Don’t throw away those fast food salad containers, plastic muffin containers – or any other #6 Plastic (not #6 foam, #6 plastic)! You can use that plastic to make your own shrinky dinks!!

Simply decorate the plastic with permanent markers and cut them out, punching a hole in your design with a hole punch if desired. Then bake at 350* for 2-3 minutes on a covered thin cookie sheet (cover with foil or parchment). You can also just make a tray out of aluminum foil and bake them that way. It will take slightly less time.

Watch for them to curl up and then re-flatten and you’ll know they’re done! Your colors will be darker after baking and will shrink to about 1/3 the original size.

You can make keychains, jewelry, etc. The plastic is still malleable when it comes out of the oven (and is still warm), so you can even do rings and bracelets by forming strips around chapstick/lipstick containers, small cups, etc. I LOVE this project!
