Hair Today

I love doing hair. One of my first toys was that great Barbie head! My only complaint was that her hair didn’t grow back when I gave her a cute Dorothy Hamill cut.

However, doing hair first thing in the morning on a child who is less than cooperative is not enjoyable even for me. I understand the morning hairdo blues!
I wonder, almost daily, how we ever lived – back in the olden days – without the internet. We couldn’t shop in our pajamas. We couldn’t IMDB to see who that actor in that one show was or Google to find the answers to life, the universe and everything. And, we couldn’t go to YouTube and learn how to do cute hairdos!

I really enjoy learning new hairstyles from Adopt a ‘Do and watching their videos on YouTube. My daughter (now 17) HATED having her hair done as a little girl, but loves to have me do it now. In fact, she’s invited some friends over Saturday night to do makeovers before a dance. Guess who’s doing the makeovers!

One of the things I realized, in learning these new hairdos is that I really need a Topsy Tail. It really does make life easier! There are a billion hair products out there from simple bobby pins, to the amazing Curlformers that I use on my daughter’s long beautiful hair. You can buy bobby pins, Curlformers, and many other hair gadgets at Sally Beauty. Visit this thread to get more information on how you can save 20% and get free shipping. Search for Curlformers @ SallyBeauty.com to see the easiest way on the planet to get perfect curls every time.

I’m not sure what my favorite hair gadget is. Currently I use this ceramic curling iron set more than any other, but I have a feeling the topsy tail is going to give it a run for its money. What about you? What gadgets do you like?

Stop! Don’t throw out those owner’s manuals!

I’ve always been pretty good about keeping the owner’s manuals for the things we buy.
A little too good, to be honest. Until last week I had the owner’s manuals for my oldest daughter’s baby toys. She’ll be 25 in December.
I recently took some time to organize them so they’d be easier to find when we need them.
I threw out the ones that went to things we no longer own. And I organized the rest in a file box.

I was specific about some things and general about others.
For example, “toys” are in one file and “small kitchen appliances” are in another. The “water softener” has it’s own. And the files leave plenty of room for small extra parts that might come with things. Like the nuts and bolts necessary to turn my son’s crib into a full size bed one day.

But this post isn’t just about being organized. It’s about saving money too.
Let me explain.
The plastic lid thingy on my food processor broke recently.
I could buy a new food processor for about $40.
Or I could spend a lot of time on the internet trying to figure out the proper name for the plastic lid thingy and then searching for the part number and then search for a place to buy the part.
But, because I held onto the owner’s manual…

I can easily see that that thingy has an actual name and a part number
which I was quickly able to locate and order for less than $20.
It’s gonna be great to not have pesto flinging all over the kitchen!
Most of the warranty information is located in those owner’s manuals too. If, for example, you’re ceiling fan quits working within the 5 year warranty period, you’ll know who to contact about it.
So, save those owner’s manuals. You’ll need them! And they can save you money so they’re worth hanging on to. At least for as long as you own the item that they go to.
Not really much beyond that though. Anyone need a Glo-Worm circa 1985 owner’s manual? Yeah, me neither.
