I have a 4 year old daughter that LOVES learning! As I’m sure this my not always be the case with her, I have taken some opportunities to make learning fun for her while she is interested! One thing that I did recently for her was to make her very own reusable workbook. To make one, you will need the following items:
- (1) 3 Ring Binder (got at a Yard Sale for .25)
- Children’s Workbooks (I used 2 for this one…also a Yard Sale find for .25 each)
- (1) Pencil Pouch w/ Zipper (found in my Back-to-School deals bin)
- (1) Dry Erase Marker (came in a 2-pk. on sale for .50/pk.)
- (1) Kleenex (let’s see…the whole box was .60, 120 in a box, this Kleenex cost .005 cents )
- (1) Pair of Scissors (got for FREE using a coupon and a Smith’s Catalina)
- Sheet Protectors (yet another Yard Sale find! A whole box of them for $1.00)
First, tear our all the pages in the workbooks:
Then, slip each page into a sheet protector:
I like to cut the front cover off each workbook and place them in a sheet protector as well. Doing this will secion off the workbook for your child so they will know when the alphabet pages end, and where the number pages begin, and so forth:
Fill the binder with the pages and the pencil pouch.
Your child will now be able to spend countless hours learning their ABC’s and 123’s, writing with the dry erase marker, then wiping down each page with the kleenex.
This project will save you plenty of pennies by not having to use the pages just one time in the book, then having to go buy more books. My daughter was so happy to have this, she sat down for a good half hour the other night and practiced writing her letters and numbers, then when she was done gave me a big hug and told me I was the best mom for making her very own homework book! She has used it everyday since!
And on a side note, this would make a great Christmas gift for the little learners in your family! They don’t take long to put together! Talk about a quick and easy homemade gift!
