Summer Bucket List

Does your family make a summer bucket list? If not, you should think about doing it! Making a summer bucket list can develop strong family ties, as well as starting new family traditions! Sometimes traditions start by accident, by having a family activity that you all just love. This is a great way to discover new and fun activities together.

Many studies have shown that families that spend regular time together have stronger ties, the children are less likely to have emotional and social problems, parents will know what their kids are involved in, and kids will be less likely to get involved with drugs and alcohol. Spending time together doesn’t have to be expensive or time consuming. It can be as simple as making root beer floats together, or sleeping outside on the trampoline one night. Things like this mean so much to the kids too. Have you ever heard the expression “Love is spelled T-I-M-E?” I really believe that.

There are many fancy ways you can display a bucket list, and many simple ways. This year I used supplies I already had at home, I didn’t want to spend any extra money. I pulled out a poster board, letter stickers, and colored Sharpies. My kids made the poster and did a great job! Since they came up with the activities they are excited about them. I was happy to see them put down simple things, like ‘eat corn on the cob’. It is always fun to do big things in the summer like camping, trips, and things like that. But summertime is also about the simple things, like eating corn on the cob. We can’t wait for summer around here! What do you do in the summertime for fun?
