I have been making some changes in my living room and I was in need of a bookcase. I remembered this old bookcase in my garage…it had been there for several years and was actually being used as our shoe rack! That fake cherrywood color just isn’t my think any longer…but I still liked the style and lines of the bookcase.
Instead of forking out money to purchase a new bookcase, I took matters into my own hands. I sanded, primed, and painted it! Now it looks like this:
MUCH better! It did take me quite awhile to paint and sand it. After giving it a good sanding with an electric sander (sorry no photos, I forgot to take some during this process), I spray painted it using Rustoleum brand Espresso paint. I ended up using 4 cans of Espresso paint and 2 cans of primer. Total cost to paint was around $18. I am very pleased with the results!
